Mounting floor pan

I am about to attach a new aluminum floor pan the previous one was welded steel, so do the side panels go on first with the floor overlapping or the floor on first then the side panels?

The problem with floor first is a small ledge were the side panel overlaps the floor panel.

Will look neater if you do floor first then overlap them with the side panels.

I would want a steel floor rather than ally, but would agree that overlapping the sides over the floor would be the better option.

Nothing wrong with an ally floor. Lighter, just as stiff if not stiffer when properly bonded and riveted. Less chance of distortion due to welding in a steel floor. It won't rust (I know ally oxidises, but that prefereable to rust IMHO).

As per Loggys photo, floor first then sides for a neater appearance.

I guess the stell view would be stength from penetration (ooer) in an accident.
But its a miniscule difference and if you want safety buy a tintop, a 7 is about adding lightness, and ally is pretty much the cheapest way to achieve it.

There is steel still on the floor in the drivers footwell and both firewalls, the aluminum is in the passenger foot well and under the seats which provide some protection from incursion.

The floor replacement was to add lightness even though the aluminum is a hardened heavier gauge.
