Do we still have to SORN?

Folks..... I don't get a reminder here in SA, but do we still have to SORN cars that are off the road and stored away in the UK? I did it last year but seem to recall this the SORN thing was going to stop at some point, might be wrong though.

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

On the other hand, I thought it'd been altered so that SORN rolled over from year to year and didn't need to be renewed annually anymore... Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though. Hopefully we'll get a definative answer soon.

Although I'm still worried DVLA will send a fine - just can't seem to trust the systems these days.....

You do not need to renew a SORN now, it remains in force until you tax the vehicle. If you try to do it online it won't let you. Found that out recently when tried to renew one myself. The information is on the DVLA website, but takes some finding!!

+1 You must do an initial SORN then it is valid until you tax or sell the car.

If you didnt sorn it when the perpetual system was in force you will still need to renew one more time.

just use the vehicle enquiry bit on the DVLA site:

https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/enquiry?execution=e5s1

mine comes up as 'SORN in place'

Seriously? The government has actually done something to reduce hassle and reduce cost to operate the SORN scheme, can't believe it personally. Must be a mistake?!????

It's not to reduce hassle........
Costs yes, but only their end, less postage, less staff, more for civil servant pensions
