searching for a BEC....

Hi all, I've just joined the forum and i'm looking for some advice to help my search for an Indy.

I'm new to the kit car scene and looking for some pointers in how to spot a good or bad build, and where are the best places to look, im keeping an eye on pistonheads but that's about it.

i'll be looking for a Bike powered car with good spec.

if you are selling or are considering selling in the very near future, please get in touch

thanks

Search skippad, he has a beaut for sale. Fastest thing I've been in. Tried to buy it last year but he changed his mind when it came to the crunch. Despite that, I'd recommend the car as it is fabulous, well built and he's posted it up for sale again. Just make sure it's really for sale before making a trip to hartlepool . It has a zzr1400 engine in it.

Meant to say, welcome to the forum. It's one of the best places to see cars for sale, although they have been a bit thin on the ground lately. Pistonheads, ebay as well and Facebook. There are a few groups on there and cars come up frequently. Search for sevens sevens sevens. I was looking for about 12 months and would check each daily looking for stuff to come up. Occasionally some come up on autotrader and there are a few other sites that you can find by just googling mk indy for sale. Some dealers seem to use those.

You will find quite a variance, things I would look for.

Quality of the welds, squareness of the chassis, look at ancillaries such as better brakes as this will indicate the initial investment.

Kits built cars will be more expensive, add £1000 but that does not mean they are any better than a well constructed home brew.

Remember, someone that can weld to a high standard may make a mess of the wiring, do not expect everything to be 100%, something like wiring is easy and cheap to sort out, a badly constructed/assembled frame or knackered parts is not.

Go for a drive, a well sorted car should not suffer from bump steer, go like a scolded cat and not have lots of rattles, I would look at 13" wheels as a plus point myself, do not be dragged in by bling.
