I guess I've been spoied by my smart. Driven hard it will "only" return 50 MPG.
Another reason not to buy a BEC? Will a similarly quick CEC do any better?
I used to get 20mpg on track 30mpg on the road with a carbed R1 in my Phoenix.
This is better than my mates Furyblade.
Which on long runs was consistently 10% worse than me.

Oh my god I would think 25 mpg was a god send
my Z used to do 13mpg if it liked it..I used to put 20 quid of petrol a day in for just pottering around and we figured the once that it was costing
me 250 quid a week for turning the key due to age and insurance etc 19" tyres 600 pound service
beautiful car and never broke down once
the costs would have doubled if it did

OK, there locosts but does anyone really care about the mpg when youve got the wind in your air........
I never checked mine until i started racing it and that was only too make sure i wasn't either going too run out of juice or worse still carry
too much, petrol is heavy.
1st race at Mallory last year they misprinted race length, cant remember how many laps but it was a few more than printed, 3 cars ran out and Ian Gray
was chased out the pit lane with a jerry can full of petrol as was trying too top up the "purple cars" when he realised the mistake.

I bet if you removed the barn door of a windscreen, and converted to cycle fenders, you'd improve mileage a lot.
There was a 70s Kawasaki Mach 3 two stroke triple that did 13 mpg and that didn't vary much with engine size which istr were 250 or 500 or 750 :-)

Yup think yourself lucky, our scooby does 25mpg at a steady 70 on the motorway. Took it to the 'ring and it averaged about 10mpg

I don't think it's the weight but that the Cd of the Locost sucks eggs. If a bike-engine were put in an aerodynamically slick car, I think most of the mileage would come back.
My friend had a Suzuki Kettle that used to get 15mpg on a run, single figures if he used it local.

My Rf900 only just did that ,and thats without towing a car
Its also gearing as mentioned before. A mate went to Le Mans a few years ago with his Megablade, and the combination of a 3.2 (Freelander) diff and
185-70-13" tyres raised the theoretical gearing to around 150mph, and he got nearly 50mpg from it!
I dont monitor it on the road but so far Ive found the injected R1 to use a bit more than the blade did on track, I usually get a days trackdaying
(about 100-150 miles) on a tankful plus a jerry can so about 40-45L (10gal) of fuel, Ive not worked it out before but that equates to about 10mpg at
worse, or 15mpg at best.
So glad I have a 54ltr baffled foam filled tank on mine, My bike only did 30 at best.. Bikes being economical is a myth.. the power has to come from
somewhere, and its fuel...
I had a busa engined car bored out to 1400cc and never reaaly took much notice but on a track day at oulton park I got through £60.
Yep the busa's certainly drink more on track than the R1 / blade, my mate regularly gets through a tank plus two jerry cans on the same trackdays
as me with his Megabusa
My trip to Le Man she well
behaved at 35mpg. just cost a mint
in Rectifiers cured that one now
25mpg isn't bad at all...
My project will have 2 busa motors... I'll be happy to get 8mpg when pushing it wth both spiritedly ^_^
But I have an Insight to offset that (65mpg+) hehe
