Another Viento Nearly ready for SVA

Took the week of work last week so that I could get a really good push on with the car, really pleased with the progress I made (despite getting called back into work on one day!)

Jobs left:
* Sort my tunnel cover and gaiters,
* Fit my mirrors once I've read the SVA manual,
* Sort the front brake lines so they don't foul anything
* Sort out my steering column downlink - the one I got from luego 2.5 years ago doesn't seem quite long enough for my liking
* Make up some indicator extenders
* Do all the covering etc I need to for the SVA - again once i've read the manual while I'm away on business next week.

*Book the SVA!

I can't quite believe I'm almost there!

few piccies: (was hoping to pull it out into the sunshine but found out that running the engine for 30mins to break in the Cam used up all 5 litres I had in the tank!!)

Loving the car matey, there's only one thing that would bother me and that's the fact you have the battery totally enclosed in an alloy case which comes up over the height of the battery terminals.

Lots of potential for shorting? Not criticism, just observation.

Get the sva booked, this time of the year there is usually a fair delay.

I agree about the Battery shorting as well.

TIP:
UNDO the Earth Connection FIRST
RE-CONECT the Earth LAST.

This way you will never short the Live to chassis, as the Chassis is not connected to the battery.
It might save you a nasty injury.

Was taught this at work, where a single 2volt cell was 1x1x2 METRES in size and there were 48 cells in the Battery. It ran with 2000+ Amps being drawn constantly.
It was fed with a 3Phase Electric motor driving a DC Dynamo (This was 40 years ago).
It was Mega power.
The gasses given off when charging almost choked you when you RAN though the room, trying not to draw breath.

Nowadays its all sealed batteries in airconditioned room. None of the topping up the cells with a gallon sized plastic watering can full of sulphuric acid.

Oh well... thats progress.

Thanks for the comments, any idea how long it does take to get an SVA appointment at this time of year?

On the battery comment, the battery is sat in a frame to stop it sliding and is clamped down from the top, do you think this is still unsafe? Its pretty easy to remove the box from round it if its still unsafe.
