Hi All, I'm hoping I'm just about ready to apply for my IVA. I'm just waiting for the pictures of the build to come through the post
then I'll get the forms sent off.
In the mean time, here are the latest pictures of my kit for you all to comment on anything I've missed before the big day.
I know about the following :
1. No side repeaters - gonna put them in the skuttle
2. Steering Wheel
3. Top seat belt need to have u surrounding
4. Mesh need to be put behind the front grill to prevent sharp edge failure.
5. Brake fluid reservoir warning sender need wiring up (will do this when doing the side repeaters)
6. The roll bar needs to be powder coated (but I can do this post IVA)
What else have I missed?
Linky
How come it has a registration number on it ?
How come it has reg plates before it's been IVA'd?
are the nuts on the track rod end covered?
Looks good.
Only things that come to mind are...
Are tthe seat belt mountings higher than the holes in the seat? If the belt goes upward to the ole then the seat becomes structural and it'll
fail. Spacers and longer bolts will do if needed.
Do thefront indicators meet the max distance from the widest part of the car (usually the rear wheel arches) measurement. Do they mett the angles of
visbility test and not be obscured by the cycle wings?
Will side repeaters on the scuttle meet the angles of visability test without being obscured by the rear arches? Lot's have had to fit to the
front or rear arches to pass.
Do you have a brake fluid sticker/label?
Is it balance bar set up on the brakes and if so, do you have the warning sticker/label?
Have you checked the radius of the groves in the gear lever and the bike clocks? Clocks might need a shroud or padding. d O rings on the lever would
do for that.
Whats the number plate? Shouldn't have one yet.

Scuttle mounting may fail the 5degree rearward visablity splay, the rear arches can get in the way.
dunno about IVA, but looks a good qaulity build

I couldn't see enough to tell but it looks like the level switch on the brake reseviors are not attached to anything

I put them on the front arches to pass IVA. I still have those arches which 'fell off' shortly after IVA.

I also have the top seatbelt mounting cover which fell off a few weeks ago.
Not sure if it's any use but I travel to Chelmsford a lot if you want to borrow them?
It looks like a good build. Where are you going for IVA?

doh should read properly!!
How well can you see out of the rear mirrors when seated? as they are top mounted they seem quite close inboard, meaning your shoulder may obsure some of the view.

The handbake could do with a cover over the mechanism. Prevents fingers being trapped. Very nice build.
If you get age related at registration you won't get to keep the donor reg, you will just get the same year.
Hi
Our Indy R1 failed on several points the first time
I see several points on yours which need seeing to
Holes in seats need the same edge trim as around
Handbrake needs gaiter for sharp edges
Do the tunnel edges meet the radius req ? does not look like it.
Rear view mirror
Front indicators ? visibility ?
sharp edges to side panels, look sharp to me.
Radiused edge to dash ?
Needs momentary switch for brake test, fluid level, handbrake all wired in
Start switch ? in front of gear lever , probably need a cover .
Not sure on clock radiuses ?
Side indicators to rear arches as we were told by IVA inspector
Having failed ours on the scuttle.
Emissions were our worst problem with a carbed R1.
Do you still have the AIS a there is a simple solution to overcome this.
Good luck
René
indicators
Being led you will need resistors

Bin the number plates, you wont get that number anyway.
Will the bike clocks pass sticking out of the dash? Radius's etc
Hi
The AIS is the air induction system, your being a later model is different to ours
but does the same job,
AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
The air induction system burns unburned exhaust
gases by injecting fresh air (secondary
air) into the exhaust port, reducing the emission
of hydrocarbons.
We failed on the lambda reading being far too high , so I removed the pipe from the
airbox to the AIS valve & fitted a 15mm push fit stop tap on the end.
This allowed me to turn down or off the air going into the exhaust whilst he was doing the test.
We had to turn it off completely & it passed with flying colours.
Costs next to nothing & everything to gain if it works.
Make sure there are no air leaks on any part of the exhaust system
& get the cat nice & hot before the test .
Re:Switch If his ball (representing a head) fits behind the gear lever he will fail it on that or radiuses
Make sure the pedals have rubber boots or non slip
In the footwells if there are any protrusions bolts rivets etc, cover them!.
I know a lot of the test is B----cks but if he sees that you have made a real effort , that goes a long way.
Good luck
rené
Only way you will get the number is if you have it on retention and tranfer it to the car after registration. If its not on retention you will be given a number

The IAS makes a huge difference, well it does on the ZX9R anyway
