Sierra Steering Wheel
StevenB - 8/7/11 at 12:52 PM

Guys,

I know people give off for bumping threads back to the top
but I'm stuck on this steering wheel business.

Can anyone post a picture of the back of a standard
sierra steering wheel so I dont get the wrong one again.

Cheers in advance.

The teeth that are the steering lock are wrong.

Also note the cut out in the hex for a little plastic colar that is the self canel activator.

Mk3+4 escort has the same hex but no cut out.

This is a sierra wheel.

Hope that helps ?

Same as mine ( horn slip ring removed )

You could have mine for nothing but you would need to get a slip ring if you wanted to use the Sierra horn button.

Thanks guys. Now I'm wondering where the horn slip ring brushes against.
Is there supposed to be one on the column and one in the back
Of the wheel?

I'm starting to think the old saying of
See one, do one, teach one should now be
Never seen one, never done one, screwed.

The horn ring butts up against a small spring brass and plastic switch which is normally mounted right at the 12 o clock position on the sierra column. It has 2 wires coming from it. I dissconnected mine but left it in place and put a horn via a button on the fascia.
It is spring mounted and pushes against the brass on the horn ring making contact.
I have the bits if you need them? Dave motokustom@yahoo.co.uk
