Hello,

i have some money to spend on another car.

I love the Elise.

So , if you have a good car to propose , don't hesitate.

thinking of elise's, don't see many of the early ones on the road anymore. wonder why

StevieB - 16/4/10 at 04:41 PM

I've run two elises in the past without any major problems - and I will definately have another one at some point in the future too!

I would also add that a lot of people have bad things to say about elises, but everyone I know who's actually owned one don't have much wrong to say about them.

The same goes with SMART Cars.......
The people who have never been in one , driven , or never owned one are the ones who have negative opinions......strange that.

The Elise is my next car after we get the project finished. 1st or 2 gen don't care It is a fantastic bit of engineering design.

I read that S1s were being exported - can't remember where to mind.

SeaBass - 16/4/10 at 05:09 PM

Yep - I was talking to the chap at Murray Lotus the other day and a lot are going to Europe with the exchange rates.

Early models are also increasing in value according to Glass' at £500 a month!

They are brilliant - I see a lot on the roads.

it was in autoexpress the early ones are getting exported due to the exchange rate
as i have thought about one aswell, but possibly bit out of reach and not sure if it would fit in the single garage or not

Most of the bloomin 340r's have headed to the continent

ChrisW - 16/4/10 at 05:48 PM

What's your budget!?

belgian2b - 16/4/10 at 06:44 PM

Hello,

But no problem if i can find a cheaper one

Ginetta G20 Linky

Plenty left in your budget to lob a better engine in it!

belgian2b - 16/4/10 at 07:30 PM

Thanks for the Ginetta,

i have a Westfield XTR2 , and what i am looking for now is something for "every day use" and that could be driven by my wife.
So the Lotus is what i am looking for.

To learn about Elises ( good and bad ) go to SELOC forums. Very comprehesive site with extensive history and tech info.

FazerBob - 16/4/10 at 09:31 PM

Chris|W - enjoy yourself tomorrow - you will go home working out how to get the money for an Elise.
If you're really lucky you could find yourself taking an ex F1 driver as your passenger round the test track! now that is an experience.

eddie99 - 16/4/10 at 09:55 PM

ChrisW - good move and a bad move. Good move is that you'll have a great day and lots of fun, Bad move is you'll be wishing you had an elise for the rest of your life unless you get one!

richardh - 17/4/10 at 07:11 AM

wasnt a pop at elises just that i've not seen many on the roads at all.

StevieB - 17/4/10 at 02:22 PM

As said, loads have been heading to the continent lately.

My S2 went that way as well.

For £10k, you should be able to stretch to an S2 model. A lot of people don't like the styling over the S1 but they are an improvement on quality and better as an everyday car.
