Well, I took the plunge and apgraded to Windows 7.
Now, I'm trying to copy over bookmarks, cookes etc from my old Application Data folders, but the buggers are hidden and I can't seem to get
the PC to let me see them.
For instance, I know my Firefox bookmarks should be in 'Window.old', Documents & Settings, Jasper, Application Data' but that
folder is just not visible, and it's not in the new Windows folder either. I know it's there 'cos Firefox shows me the destination
folder, but when I go to hunt for it, it won't show it to me.
I know I fixed this problem before, but I can't remember how!
BTW - Windows 7 is looking really good.....
Sounds like a permission issue what you could try is booting from a bootable linux cd and looking for the files that way.
For anybody else upgrading before you upgrade --
On windows PCs theBest way to backup and transfer Firefox & Thunderbird settings, book marks, addons, emails and filters is use Mozbackup
http://www.v3.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2141389/mozbackup
In XP it's in Tools/Folder Options/View in the File Manager - guess it's similar in W7
That's got it, phew - thought I'd lost all my bookmarks and cookies etc ....
Thanks
You want to keep cookies ! best to automatically clear them out at the end of every session and never accept 3rd party cookies.
Not cookies, passwords
