I presume that at that price, it's not the 3M stuff

I bought some of this stuff from this ebay seller. Its not just squares on black. I think its looks pretty good.

Its nice and gloss and sticks really well. I have some on my tunnel top and seat headrest.

I know it looks blue and greenish in the pictures but they were taken with my phone. It looks very similar to the MK dash carbon.

Well the grey squares are arragned slightly differently, but the principle is the same, its black vinyl with grey squares in a cheqher pattern!
Its a far cry from the 3m or the real thing where its the angles/direction of weave that creates the look by reflecting the light:

I bought a sample sheet of that stuff a while ago (got metal woven in it to make it shine better, but doesn't stretch curves as well apparently). I do think it does have a slight green tinge to it in the flesh.
