Why is this roll bar like this?
southpaw - 12/3/06 at 12:51 PM

Ok, hopefully there ahould be a picture attached to this. Can someone explain why the roll bar in the picture goes all the way down the side of the car?

Is it to protect the car if it rolls over?

Thanks

It's intended for side protection from other cars etc.

Also protects the Drivers arm.

If you notice in the picture His arm is outside the 'bodyline' of the car.

Arm restraints are also a very wise precaution as even a side intrusion bar doesn't stop your arms going outside the protected area in a roll (some people naturally try and put their hands above their head in a roll - I did!) or in a side impact.

Another quick question. Will full weather gear (i.e. doors) still fit/work with this on?

Thanks for the replies so far guys

and if you look even harder, , it is the same on the passenger side.

I think it to help old fuddy duddies get in.
