Hi why do it in steel/stainlessteel. That just makes for a noisy silencer. 6" DIA is STD size for alloy tube also and will make a much quieter
silencer.
If no resources for alloy welding end plates ect make them bolt on. It is all i did on our older silencers.
Cheers Matt
Old cast iron soil pipe would be the locost way. Clean it first though or it might not do much for your emmissions.
I went to the local Yamaha dealer, and for a carton of beer got a titanium R1 silencer. They had a rack full of old silencers that had been removed
to make way for "go-faster" stuff - which basically ended up going to the bin when the rack got full.
Gutted it - and turned it into a straight through muffler with a perforated core and stainless steel wool filling. Bit fiddly cutting the titanium
and finding ways of joining it all up - but it works well.
Flue pipe is about the right size. Gas fire shops or their suppliers will sell you some.
