Powerslide Baby
G.Man - 9/7/06 at 07:45 PM

Took the car out for a spin today and decided to show off a bit... There are some cool roundabouts near me where all the car modders hang out, so I thought I would give them some BEC second gear drifting to watch....

Had a friend with me in the passenger seat, she was a little nervous (I love it when they scream lol )...

Anyway, to cut a long story short, a quick lift is enuff to kick the back out, then a good hard kick of the loud pedal puts it nicely sideways with an amazing ability to steer on the throttle...

It was a contest to see whether I could hold the slide longer than the girl could hold the scream...

YEAH BABY

TBH it would be hard to beat a girl at screaming on just one roundabout...

So yes I lost, but I was still a winner...

so those sierra lsd s are good for something then

G.Man - 11/7/06 at 07:59 PM

Yeah, they are okay for that... but something is clicking when I go around right hand bends or roundabouts...

Need to fathom that out...

could be a cv joint ????? or a wheel bearing, but seing as the latter are new would say more likely a cv joint, is it worse under load ???

G.Man - 12/7/06 at 04:34 AM

Yes it seems worse under load, and I think it is a CV joint...

Looks like the easiest repair will be a replacement half shaft...

Thats second hand diffs for you eh

bit unlucky really most parts from sierras are pretty robust

( although did the shafts come from the car that had rolled with the engine )

G.Man - 12/7/06 at 02:22 PM

No these shafts came with the diff your dad collected for me...

Its no worries if its a cv joint, the clicking isnt bad, I am sure it will alst a while yet

bummer will have a look and see if we have any others kicking around, not likely as sierra stuff is getting a bit thin these days
i will find out how much a new one is if they are available

G.Man - 12/7/06 at 07:07 PM

Looks like the cossie CV joints run about £75 a pop...

If I can work out which one is shot, then should be an ok fix
