fuel pump requirements
Dave Bailey - 14/1/09 at 11:34 PM

Anyone know what the fuel rail pressure should be for a 2.0 Zetec (st170) 180 ish BHP? In addition pump requirement ltr/hour? I was using a Subaru Impreza fuel pump but tonight it went up in smoke! so I need to a new one rather than buy another second hand. The Sabaru was an in tank pump but I plan to use an external pump now!

thanks

FI line pressure is usually about 3.0 bar (44 psi) for multi point systems,
I would look at a Astra GTE 16v pump or similar.

Most systems run at 3 bar.

Choose a FI pump that is fitted to a car with a similar FI system and power output, or maybe slightly higher power, and you shouldn't go far wrong.

It is possible to calculate the engines needs but it's long winded and this approximation works.

Yup. Choose an EFI car of a similar BHP and similar vintage (likely to have a similar fuel requirement per BHP).

Job done.

3 bar is standard...
