Hi,
got a bog standard r1 carb with a foam sausage filter fitted.
do i get it dyno'd?
Where- was thinking of PDQ as its nearer to me or TTS.
Anyone got any ideas, suggestions.
I'm sure it could run better than it is.

Get it done. I waited for aged before getting it done and regretted it. I'd got it running OK by trial and error but after having it rolling roaded properly I got noticably more power above 6000 RPM. Get it done.
just a dynojet?
what do power commanders do? are they worth it?
Power commanders are only for fuel injected bikes & cannot be used on carbed engines
Get a BEC specific dynojet kit from TTS & if you can, get them to fit it & set up on the dyno.
If you buy an off the shelf R1 dynojet kit (designed for a bike) it wont come supplied with the correct size main jets, as the ones supplied will be
too small.
TTS will supply the correct size jets, you could fit them yourself & with trial & error get a good increase in driveability, but its best done
on a dyno to acheive the best results

Depends on the exhaust / filtration on whether the main jets supplied with the TTS dynojet kit will be right. They supply 140, 144 and 150 jets in the kit, but they were all too rich for a Pipercross style filter and standard R1 can for Ben's (001Ben) car - 136's were needed at the rolling road instead.
Incidentally, the jets in the Mikuni carbs are actually the same as those in Weber carbs according to the rolling road chappy.

I have a pipercross sausage filter & a straight through race can & have found the 144's to be about right, although I havent had it on a dyno yet.
Currently Rich's car will probably be running very lean & fitting a jet kit is a must IMO
when i got K&n filters on mine, i had to up the jets to 154s,(around a 20% increase) i think the dynojet kits worth it, but ive heard theyre hard to set up right and they can also wear away the needle holes cause the new needles are of a much harder compound than normal... new jets are a must with new filters though.
Can I just point out that this section is for topics relating to FUEL INJECTION not carbs!
There is a subtle but important difference....
I only point this out as there have been a lot of posts in here about bike CARBS recently and they are technically in the wrong place! It makes it
