Anyone know of a good fuel pump setup for a Zetec 1.8 using the existing fuel rail and inlet plenum?
I need to know what type of pump i can use whith this setup, im a little confused with internal and external pumps and the PSI ratings
I've got a Vauxhall GTE/SRi out of tank pump. running 3.25 bar. Cheap and easy to connect pipes to.
Hi,
I've just bought one of
these to do the same job.
it has part number OEM 0580464008 on the side which comes up as a bosch refence in google although my pump doesnt actually say bosch anywhere on
it.

ive bought one of the above, offered £20
They do look like Bosch pumps aswell.

So i can hook this up straight to my sender unit and battery and i should work
This is where i get really dumb... does it not have to be connected up top the ECU???
Sierra or early RS turbo work well. I've used plenty of these on Zetec conversions in tin top Fords. Problem is, the Ford crew think anything
with RS on it is worth money, hence they go for silly prices, as people palm old Sierra ones off as RS turbo (they're the same pump).
Trick is to buy one of here from someone who's breaking a Sierra donor.
There's also a BMW one that is the same pump with a different part number, and a lot cheaper. I think I paid £25 off eBay for a brand new one.
Do some Googling and you will find a page with all the Bosch part numbers and their ratings. Pick the one that matches the Sierra flow rate and PSI,
and you're onto a winner. That's what I did on my XR2, and it works a treat.

Also will any external pump work as long as it has 3 bars of pressure?
Pressure is set by the regulator not the pump.
External pump from a Montego Efi or Maestro Efi (also used on some Alfas) is suitable and new ones are very cheap off ebay. (about 22 quid)
If you want an intank pump the pump off a Rover 620 is nice and easy to remove and is held on by a bolted flange.
