Air temperature sensor with ITB's where?

Using individual throttle bodies, with either trumpets or individual filters, where's the best place to put the air temperature sensor?

ideally you want to put them into an airbox and the have the sensor mounted in the air intake pipe that leads from the fresh air to the air box

mine is under the manifold cable tied to the chassis rail and its fine with gsxr t/b's

In front of the trumpets, or some where close, so it measures the temp of the air feeding the bodies, as patronising as that sounds.

Even if it sucks air from the engine bay, or an airbox, just some lateral thinking is all it takes.

But try and reduce heat soak by mounting in rubber tube, esp if using megasquirt

eg Its the air your measuring temp of, not the backplate

I temporarily mounted mine sticking out of the bodywork at first, but when parked up with that side in direct sunlight it would lie to the ecu, causing lean runnings till air movement got it reading closer to the truth

Same will happen after a run/parkup restart if its mounted directly to an alloy backplate or a nice chunk of metal

....not a massive issue, but worth bearing in mind when choosing the mounting place and type ;-)

Mine is mounted between trumpets of cyl 2 and 3 and is bonded to a rubber hose for insulation and to extend the nose into the airstream

Thanks guys, I was thinking of mounting it on a plastic bracket close by the intakes, just need to decide on trumpets or filters now, I think it'll be trumpets for looks and sound.

Why not both? That's would certainly be the preferred option for performance and longevity.

Yes thats another option worth thinking about.

Eee theres some choices with this fuel injection lark....

I hope bike carbs and boggs manifolds are still in vogue when I ditch them, for FI

I have a plastic sensor from a rav4 and that is mounter on a strip of ally with the 'nose' of the sensor pushing down through the one of the foam filter socks over my gsxr throttle bodies
