plenum chamber...where from?
jonesier1 - 9/9/09 at 07:48 PM

Hi,can anyone suggest somewhere to get a plenum chamber to fit a silver top zetec.I tried griffin but he does'nt seem to want to supply one so i got one of those blue ones from the bay of eeee's,it turned up to day a week late and well.... it has a nice blue finish...in places ,the welding is crap to say the least with air holes in the welds and to top it off the face for the standard throttle body of a 2.0L to bolt too is too big and will fowl my bonnet. They have offered to discount if i want to make the req mods, but i thought why should i,it cost 180 odd quid. any ideas guys ?

Rover turbo one fits with a slight mod, plenty on ebay around £35.00. you could also go bike throttle bodies on manifold. More bang for your buck as well

Ahh you bought one. I asked the seller for some more pics and see the welding was crap.

Ive bought a S/h Griffin manifold and have to say it isnt great. Ive been re-working it.

If I had the time I would make one from scratch. Infact I was wondering what one would cost from a skilled fabricator. I think there would be market for a nice made one ?

Ive had the rover manifold and found the port spacing far from perfect despite what others have said.

had a look but think it sits too high.Has anyone got one fitted to an indy ?

yep there would be a demand for a decent plemun that ticks the right boxes.im in two minds weather to rework this one,it the price of it and the fact the powder coating will be more f'''''''d than it already is.Not a recommended purchase .

pic of the griffin welding

There adjustable flange was full of instant gasket to stop it from leaking and had some dodgy idle screw.

Ive remade it sticking a Iacv on for the eec-v

still a bit more to do.

that welding is 10 times better than mine.this one is learner style to say the least. I will see what they offer by way of a part refund

ive still found 3 or 4 pin holes around it though.

I was looking at a Ginetta race car at a track day last week that had 1.8 zetec with a plenum which was apparently supplied with the kit - might be worth asking Ginetta

i made a basic sealed plenum out of fibreglass to fit my home made manifold/throttle bodies and works a treat, its on a track day fiesta, but principal should work ok on rear wheel drive either with individual throttle bodies or a single one. some info here
