Iv been using a temporary cap over the filler neck on the fuel tank. Unfortunately (mums idea) it was cling film and got sucked into the tank
yesterday
So, i think the next job (after fishing the film out) should be to invest in a proper filler neck and cap for it.
I would like something like this but wanted to check there
wasnt a cheaper one before i spend my hard earned.
Am i right in thinking it has to be lockable and cant protrude from the bodywork by more than 50mm?
I got one of them from Demon Theives for £48 when I quoted BEC Owners Club to them but I believe they no longer recognise this now (as does anyone) I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere though.
I think if it protrudes more them 5 mm it must be radius'd 2.5mm.
I used a deck filler from ebay as in item number 390057807229, check with seller as mine came without diesel being stamped on it.
If you do not use a key then it must be tethered as this is.
Adrian
p.s.
Do a search as deck filler, check for 50 mm connection as well there are some at £23 plus postage.

Cheers.
The other question was, can you get fuel filler pipe that is 45mm one end (tho fit tank) and 50mm for the cap?

Lurch - Do you know what size hose it fits to?
........................................Sound of Lurch pounding out to the garage to find his trusty vernier!
51.78mm outside diameter,so i recon it would fit a 52mm pipe
Any good?
Should be ok. U2U sent
I lost my filler cap some months ago and had a heart attack at the £60 price tag. It must be one of the biggest rip offs in the kit world.
Suffice to say I stuck a black one size fits all iris type one on. I`m not over the moon about it but cant justify the cost of a new one. Got through
the MOT ok, maybe I could cover it in tin foil to spruce it up a bit?
Get that wrapper out of the gas tank as soon as you can.
Back in the bad old days it was a practice of police tail teams to put cigarette wrapper in bad guys fuel tank, it would float around then block off
the fuel line, car stops, vacuum from pump eases, wrapper floats away, cars starts and drives normally, floats back to the fuel line, car stops again,
drove drug dealers nuts.
