Megasquirt help required
FrankP - 15/12/09 at 01:27 PM

Hi,

Is there snyone local to me who can come and help me with my megasquirt setup.

I have had it ticking over roughly and when I touched the throttle it doed. So I changed the idle valve and blocked up the vacumn inlets now it just pops and hisses at me....

I would be willing to pay someone for travel and time.......

Thanks

Frank

Can we have some ifo on your setup, and can you post up your map?

msq map

Do you have a wide band controller?....

I would say the fact that you have got it running, you are 90% there....

First off, you need to figure out if it's running too rich or lean at tick over then go from there.....

What MS are you running? Either there isn't any info in that map or my Tunerstudio is being a pain due to the wrong signature.

As abovem getting it running is the hard part, now it's just play and tune until it's perfect.

Back to basics.....

The fundementals for a running engine are fuel/ air, ignition and compression.

Lets assume compression is ok??.....But always worth checking.

The fact that is has been running suggests that everything is working.....

My guess is too much fuel, you have flooded the engine a number of times and now the plugs are fouled. try to start the engine, pull the plugs and check them. Keep your battery fully charged as this part of the process can give it a beating.

Ditto the question about wideband?...do you have one?....

What is your engine spec and set up, and what is the req fuel and the map like (if possible post screen shots as some of us cannot see older msq files).....

The more info we have the more helpful (and quicker), we'll get this solved.

Paul.

What engine is it? im running a MS1 v2.2 with edis mod on a 2 litre zetec .
Have you set up the required fuel correctly using the injector flow rate? you will also find it needs a fair bit of warm up enrichment in this cold weather the after start enrichments will also need to be set about right before it will start.

Your spark table is probs the fault.
Try something like
10 28

16 30
in the corners then interpolate.
Rev limit may need addressing as it appears to be 25000.
What kind of inlet are you riunnning?
Can you use a timing light and check the timing is correct.
Think that'll do for starters.
Always remember to save an msq before tuning so you'll have a working map.
A note on AFR, mine'll idle anywhere from around 11 to 19:1.

Hi,

The inlet is a standard ford efi manifold.

It is edid unit which runs from a sensor on the crank pulsing the vr sensor - how can the timimg be out - how can I test it?

Thanks

Frank

I'm assuming there are standard setting for EDIS, i've only really used wasted spark stuff. If there is then it'll be fine. To test it simply get the engine running, set the advance to fixed at 10 and then use a timing light to see what the timing is.

Is there any way you can post a data log?
