I have a nice steady idle, easy start warm or cold (not perfect but..) and now I'm ready to go out and start logging...

Problem when I touch the throttle to raise rpm to move off it stalls, it feels like it doesnt like the extra air as it sounds liek it choking, at this poit afr goes off the scale lean...

The log I posted earlier suggests lowering a lot of teh bins above and to the right of idle. Will this help?

I've looked at your logfile.
Nice steady idle, nice stable AFR. 15V from battery (is that normal, I don't have a Zetec). Looking good.


1st thing. You get changes in MAP and AFR that look like you have tickled the throttle. But there is no change in the TPS. That is going to cause you a problem. I think you might need to rotate the TPS slightly so that you are sensitive to these initial throttle openings (the problem is that the MS can't put more fuel in unless it knows that there is more air going through, and the TPS is what tells it).

I am assuming you are running Alpha-N.

2nd It looks like you are short of fuel at small throttle openings. If you are using someone elses table, then it might be just that your TPS values are all out (so you are in the wrong bit of the table). Their TPS isn't set-up the same as yours.

If you are making your own table, then you can either richen up the TPS sites off idle, or allow the VE Analyzer to have a go at helping you.



The problem with VE analyser can come when you have too much fuel. Rich miss-fires leave oxygen in the exhaust, which looks like (but isn't) a lean condition. I don't think that you have this problem, but its worth being aware of.



With Alpha-N it is important to have the TPS set-up nicely, and as FBB says to have a decent number of points in the table with TPS values close to the idle TPS value.

Thanks Matt, I noticed it was idle at about 45% on the log, thats strange as looking at the table when its running its on the bottom line....

I am running alpha-n with 100% tps. It is calibrated but I saw with the throttle closed its at around 175adc, I've turned the tps as far round as it goes to get it down to there but now I'm wondering if its knackered as I see on the live table when I push the pedal the arrow shoots along the bottom line before it jumps up.

I'll see if the Honda one I have will fit, or maybe the Ford, or Rover one I have attached to my spare engines....

Hmm,

GSXR TPS normally read between 40 and 175 in their standard position. Perhaps it is wired up the wrong way around? I didn't think this was the case from the log but.

The TPS on the secondaries (those bits that you probably have thrown away) are different to the TPS on the primary thottles on the GSXR1000.



Maybe one of those other TPS will sort it out. It sounds like you are getting there.


The other source of the problem could be due to the TPS being on the opposite end to the cable. If the linkages are not perfect then you can have the throttles opening at one end (the cable end) before the throttle at the TPS end moves. Worth checking when you are looking at this stuff.

Sounds like you are getting close.

You need to configure the y-axis tps scale in megalog viewer. I cant remember where it is off the top of my head, its in one of the menuus along the top. You tell it what you max/min values are so it reads correctly. Otherwise the scale will be incorrect in MLV

If your VE table has lots of high numbers around your now good idle, bring them down in that area to around 5 points above your idle value.

Sorry I cant look at your logs at the moment.

Remember a wideband lambda will read rich misfires as dead lean....

I had a similar problem with GSXR throtte bodies in that the first 2 degrees of throttle movement lead to a massive inrease in the amount of air being sucked in but virtually no change to TPS which makes it very difficult to tune them just off idle. I found running HR code helped a lot, but you can only run this with high impedance injectors.
