post 95 engines and cat test
baz-R - 15/3/10 at 06:56 PM

ok heres the run down im realy thinking of using a new or post 95 engine in my build and im pritty sure that its possible to get an injection setup with megasquirt and a cat.
but the thing is im finding it hard to find anyone that has actuly done it
there must be someone that has done it with some kind of programable ecu thats on the market for a start hopefuly some one has done it with megasquirt
my aim was to build and use megasquirt and a lambda before the cat

just realy want to know its been done befor i getting all the bits together

and yes i know most people are using a older engine and then then changing it over

any tips and was it hard to achive?
or was it just a case of setting the megasquirt to run a lambda at 1 (off its voltage)?

yep. can't think of any off the top of my head, but theres been several duratecs. loads of bike engines. bear in mind IVA's been here for a year now, theres not going to be huge numbers of either, but i'd say most new builds needing IVA have been post 95 engine. about 70% i'd estimate

how different is iva emissions test to sva emissions test then?

as far as i know its the same as post 94 mot cat test for engines made after 95 but please let me know if im wrong

I think you should use what engine you want, if your going to use megasquirt, there are plenty of Megasquirt users on here to help you out when you get confused...which you WILL

I fitted megasquirt to a '95 RF900 Bike engine.

passed SVA on Carbs.
Did not need a CAT tested at 4.5% although I thought at the time it should of been 3.5%
Mine test below 3.5% any way.
I don't think carbs or fuel injection has any thing to do with having a CAT.
It's the age of the engine that matters.

As above many MS fitted to all ages.
