Tps dot threshold
omega 24 v6 - 28/3/10 at 09:05 PM

What settings in tuner studio are you all using ( well if you have the gsxr tps) for the tps dot threshold?

I am just about ready to start tuning the accel enrichments so any advice/tutorials on what is happening /how to interpret the information given, when the ball and dotted line is moving in the graph would be welcome.

It depends on the TPS. The best way to set this is...

Open up the accel wizard in tuner studio which has a real time graph running along the bottom IIRC. I think it runs even with the engine off....if so quickly floor the accelerator and see what %/sec you get on the graph. Then do it a little more slowly. Use the highest value you can get as your top setting for the most enrichment then taper it off from there.

For the threshold set it slightly above the noise you normally see - if you run a datalog you can show tpsdot on one of the graphs and it will give you an idea of the normal noise you get.

If its all wired properly you shouldnt get any noise at all at a fixed throttle position so the thresholds are generally set quite low.

Cheers Flak.
I had a look tonight and see that the tpdot is a "calculated field" so I set it up.
However due to the crap weather I can't see me getting a datalog for a while. So the question is will the new calculated field show up/work on an old data log so that I can look at the tps data?

Ok so due to the weather I have only managed to run up the engine in the garage on idle with a rev or two in the middle of the datalog.
here is the datalog in question and the msq. So what tps dot info can we glean from this David??
The TPS looks very stable to me except for when you move the throttle ( which is what I'd expect).
But the scale seems strange and there is no detail on whether its in v/ms or what.

OOps you'l need the msq here it is

Ahh forgot you were on MS1.

The TPS is a calculated value, you cannot display TPS/dot on MS1 logs which is annoying.

I have been setting my accel enrichment up today and here's how I did it.

Load up tuner studio, start the engine and get it up to temp. Make sure you have a reasonable idle. Open up the accel wizard and you should have a live graph showing tps/dot, map/dot and AFR at the bottom.

You then need to get the engine so it will rev without stumbling when you *very* gently increase the revs. It can be tricky, but you can use ve analyse live if you want to. Also make sure your TPS dot threshold is set to 1000%/sec for this bit.

Once you have it to that stage you can start to fiddle with the accel enrichment threshold and actual values.

You want the threshold to be high enough to avoid triggering through normal fluctuations when driving but low enough so you can get a clean revving engine regardless of when you gently press the throttle, or rapidly stab it.

I would start at a setting of 30%/sec for the threshold and the lowest enrich setting. Then set your highest enrich setting to around 800%/sec and 15ms. The middle 2 should be around 150%/sec and 350%/sec and 6ms and 12ms respectively. Those should get you reasonably close.

Give that a go and let me know how you get on
