V8 EDIS MS Non start
scudderfish - 15/5/10 at 04:15 PM

Further down the path, but still not running. I've posted a video here http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/L9u17vskyu3gjg9dHabvhg?feat=directlink (pick the HQ option) to show what's happening.

The HP fuel pump primes, I crank the engine and the injectors inject. Sparks spark but the engine doesn't start , it tends to bog down, goes 'phut' and something blows out of the inlet manifold.

What is the most likely thing(s) I've stuffed up?

Regards,
Dave

timing?

Definately got 12v to Megasquirt/edis/coilpack/fuel pump when in crank? (not just run)

might sound silly but you got enough fuel going in?

HT leads not connected to the right cylinders?

Can you put up a link to your MS map.

sounds like its sparking too soon.Chect the cranking settings on the MS

are you 1000% certain the VR sensor is in the correct position on the trigger wheel.

I am still a few weeks off starting mine.

Thanks guys. I found I had the sides of the coils crossed (A was B, B was A, C was D D was C) which was probably the cause of sparks with the inlet port open. I also had a small leak of petrol and managed to spray myself with petrol fixing it so I've given up for the night now I've had a shower
Right now I suspect pretty much everything I've done. Timing may well be out as I based the trigger wheel position based on the marks on the damper. I assume this is probably correct as it is located by a woodruff key. I'll try again tomorrow.
