OT - Diesel pump repair
speedyxjs - 4/11/10 at 10:17 AM

One of my dads vans (2000 kangoo 1.9) developed a loud knocking last week that made it sound much like a Transit and lost nearly all power (barley tops 40mph!).

I have replaced the injectors as 3 of them were knackered but now she wont start unles you crank for about 20 seconds with at least half throttle and then she revs really high and cuts out.

Im pretty sure this means its the injection pump but Renault want £700 +vat for a new one!

Can anyone reccomend anywhere that might have a used one or recon the one we have?

ps no-one suggest diplocks fuel injection services - used them before and didn't get on too well.

I try not to recommend places to folks but I trust Auto Diesel in Scarborough and I use them quite a lot. They're also good to ask advise from. They may be able to sort out your pump and post it back to you? Worth asking? And the girl Taz, who answers the phone is a bit yummy.....

Its cambelt driven and it was working fine until the knocking started.

Silly question but has to be asked! Has it definitely got diesel in it?

klnocking and difficulty in starting can be caused by pump timing being out, maybe belt has jumped a tooth, does it smoke?

Auto marine services in Brighton. A friend works on a lot of diesel stuff, ALWAYS uses them, great company who get it right every time.
But be warned, diesel pumps ARE expensive to re-con. A good SH part will be much cheaper I suspect.
