anyone any experience of the above ecu and company ?
if i'm right, daxtojero (or something similar) is the bloke who runs the web site / company.
He did some early development on the megasquirt, then branched the internal code to create megasquirt'n'extra. This added extra features and
became very popular.
Never delt with him, but he is an authorised reseller of the system (so has some backup from the community that the product is to a certain
standard).
I'm tempted with the microsquirt from trigger wheels when i go efi (in about 5 years at my rate of progress) - seems cheaper for a well packaged
product that does almost the same. But im struggling to see what i'll be missing if i do go that way.
got my ms1 extra unit from him, he was very helpful and patient via email when i had problems setting it up and even took it back, checked the unit did a small fix and returned it free of charge. so i'd reccomend him
Top product, top bloke.
I bought my Megasquirt V3 ECU from ExtraEfi a few years ago having been strung along by another supplier for weeks and weeks.
I needed a V3 with four ignition outputs to suit my COP setup. They made one up in double quick time and it came with the necessary software ready
loaded including a base map to get me started. They fitted an extra external connector to suit the extra wiring required.
My setup triggers from a 24-1 camshaft position sensor which is quite unusual. The manual was clear enough for me to understand and I was able to get
up and running with only one phonecall to ExtraEfi.
I have recently added a wideband Lambda sensor. This was easily incorporated into the ECU software using a laptop.
This is possibly the main advantage of Megasquirt. It is user programmable.
But some would say not always user friendly.
I can't really comment on how it compares to OMEX, DTA, Emerald, etc. They are often said to be superior in some respects.
I can only recommend the Megasquirt V3 and ExtraEfi based on my own experience.
I'm sure that whichever ECU you plump for there will be a local locoster willing to help.
Where are you based?
Can I just say that I have no connection with ExtraEfi.
Geoff.

the diy extra guy is what you want in a one man outfit. Patient and helpful.
Not as cheap as the DIY option, but a worthwhile investment unless you like electrons.
