Hello all,
I'm after some help specifying my fuel system. I've done some searching and found some info but I'm still a little unsure of the best
approach. I don't really like to post like this as it's kind of lazy, but I'm just not getting anywhere and I'm sure to make an
expensive mistake!
So, I have a 2.0 Blacktop with GSXR750 TB's in a locost chassis
From what I've read these are some options (sorry, this is pretty much a rip off of other peoples info)
1.
tank----l/p pump ----swirl----filter----h/p pump ----fuel rail----pressure reg----swirl pot----tank.
Variations being the location of the filter and the return going straight back to the tank.
A seperate sender unit would be required for the gauge
From what I understand, once you've got a swirl pot in there your pretty risk free for fuel starvation and high speed cornering. This sounds
good to me.
For the l/p pump I've seen recomendations of the walbro 255. This seems pretty expensive. Are there alternatives? How do I go about specifying
one of these, delivering a flow rate greater than the HP pump? What else?
Again for the HP pump, seen the bosch 044 mentioned. Others? How spec one of these. What is the min. fuel pressure requirements?

It looks like you can get all in one pumps (HP?), swirl pots and sender units that fit in the tank. Assuming these are HP pumps, this can just go
straight to the fuel rail and back via regulator?
Is it really that simple? How do I spec on of these 'all in one units'

I also heard of people using the bike setup which makes sense. Not really sure what form this setup takes.
Any sources of info for that?

HP pump in a baffled sump area in fuel tank?
A bit long winded, but any help/experiences welcome.

I have baffles in my tank, and a feed from it to the HP pump via an in line filter. Then from the pump to the fuel rail and back to the tank through
a pressure regulator.
If you can help it, IMO you woiuld be better off with only one pump. £30 for a new 3 bar injection pump.
bike pump setup is
tank with gsxr1000 (or 600 or 750) pump mounted at the bottom (ideally in a sump). Hose to fuel rail.
The pump includes a filter and a regulator so there is nothing more to do.
Its simple, light, cheap and safe. Only limit is that you need to have the pump low in the tank (like it is on the bike) and that if you run out of
flow with the stock pump (i.e. add a turbo) then there isn't a simple upgrade.

I have baffles in the tank and built in swirl pot with only a high pressure pump and filter, flow and return to the fuel rail.
Cheers for all the info. Will give it some thought and am likely to have more questions. I like the sound of all your setups with only one pump.
It sounds like tank design is a pretty critical element. Did you all make your own or off the shelf?
Also, have you suffered from fuel starvation problems with this setup. I plan on doing a track days.
