Help + Map for XE on R1 Bodies
rysmee - 9/2/11 at 12:10 PM

Hi there, I'm new to the site so hello to everyone.
I'm currently building a 2.0 XE with R1 Bodies (not carbs) and running Omex management.
So the set up should be fairly easy to complete, except for a couple of differences with the bike bodies which are stumping me! ....
What does the Vacuum operated sliding mechanism on the top of the bodies do and do i need it? ?? :

And do i disable the sliding parts within the bodies themselves fed by these tubes either side ??

And the last thing : Does anyone know where i can get a decent base map so i can at least start it?? I'm going to attempt to map it myself as i have access to a rolling road and need to learn sometime but i thought i'd at least need a good starting point.

Cheers for any help guys,
Ryan.

That should be on the bottom side, if you have it on top you have the bodies upside down. its a wax operated choke, you conect the pipes to the coolant system (one in one out), as the coolant warms the the choke releases.

in the second picturemthese tubes are breathers, you can leave them open to air

ok cool, in the second pic though the pipes i have shown are connected to sliding parts inside the body.. if i blow down them them move down (out of the air flow) so surely they need to be kept down otherwise the air entering the engine will be severely restricted??

nope, when you put the engine under load and it sucks lots of air in these slide out the way and lift a needle out of one of the jets to let more fuel in. Normally they slide up, not down! The pipe you have shown should just have a coarse filter on to stop debris.
