I was at ATSpeed yesterday and had my engine tuned. I am running a standard 2.0ltr Duratec on twin 45's with no work to the engine and around
60,000 miles on it as it hasn't been rebuilt. I got 140bhp at the wheels (so around 168bhp at the flywheel?) so I'm pretty pleased as
figures of 185bhp at the flywheel had been mentioned, but given that a lot of these things seem to be misquoted and made up I had hoped to get around
170-175bhp at the flywheel if I was lucky, so I was pretty close.
Mark.
what exhaust system have you got on it ?
It's my old Tiger pinto exhaust which was converted over to the Duratec, so there is a chance some power could be made if you got a bespoke one made.
The exhaust will help a lot, my st170 went from 176 to 188 with a decent collector and a 1/2" increase in bore.
ATB Dan.
I am sure that there is plenty of power that could be gained, but for a straight swap into the car it is much improved on the pinto which was 130bhp
at the flywheel (not sure at the wheels, but guess 105-110bhp).
Will enjoy the car for a bit but then I guess that a bespoke exhaust and a cam change could see a reasonable hike in power?
We managed 167bhp at the wheels from a bog standard duratec. Engine had been re-built however, throttle bodies (45mm dellortos with no internals) and
a bespoke 4-1 manifold.
(just noticed you quoted my thread in the first place, oh well)

As mentioned, I guess the exhaust would make some power and a rebuild would help (not sure how much each of those would give though). I also guess it depends how much I am losing through the drive train, but I assume that should be similar for everyone?
i wouldn't worry too much atspeed's bhp figures are always on the shy side. dont get stuck up on the numbers its all about how it feels to drive.
