Duratec megasquirt trigger angle MS1-extra
Micael - 22/7/12 at 09:40 AM

Hi guys,

Does anyone have the proper value for trigger angle for 2.0 Duratec, and the value for "trig Pos A"? I use wastefire and not EDIS.

I use 60 degrees as trigger angle and 3 as "trig Pos A". It works but i have to use like 38 degrees advance on idling to get it to run good.

So there is something wrong here.

You should be using 80 degrees as the trigger angle assuming you have the standard 36-1 crank wheel

I'm using waisted spark without edis on my Duratec, but using MS2.

I'm not so sure about that.
It looks like MS1 and MS2 handles ingnition different.

MS1
According to MS1 manual the trigger angle should be 60 degrees and trigger pos A should be "3" Which should result in a "true" trigger angle at 80 degrees.

MS2
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_Miss_Tooth.htm
According to MS2 manuel the trigger angle should be 80 degrees and there is no talk about trigger Pos A.

The sensor is on 9th teeth at TDC on a 36-1 standard trigger wheel.

I saw the different manuals which is why I said I was using MS2 -but 80 degrees is the correct angle how ever the software acheives it

I'm using a different ECU, measuring the spark to accurately achieve TDC equalling zero I ended up with a crank sensor setting of 68.degrees BTDC.
