Megasquirt and EDIS - Shielded wire
Nitrogeno25 - 2/8/12 at 01:09 PM

I'm wiring the EDIS module to the megasquirt and trying to decide how to wire the PIP and SAW.

I have the option of use some shielded microphone wire or twist a pair of wires (suitable for car use) and then shield them using the mesh from a coaxial cable and maybe wrap in aluminium foil.

Which one is best?

Thank you very much!

I've used Microphone wire the cores are twisted and a tin foil sheilding is also built in

PIP and SAW wires don't need shielding, only the sensor wiring.

According to this http://www.extraefi.co.uk/Drawings/PDF_Files/Edis_Wiring.pdf the PIP should be shielded.

Ok sorry, mine wasn't as the ecu was right next to the Edis.

PiP and SAW are shielded on the original installation, I have removed lots of Edis plugs in the past and they all had shielded connections.Microphone cable is ok but usually quite flimsy, I use industrial shielded cable from work but have also thought that electric guitar leads would make a good substitute as the better quality ones are quite substantial and designed to be hard wearing .
