Can I use a 9V 1.5Amp power cable for JimStim?

On the JimStim website, it says the following:

"Any DC power supply that can generate from 9V to 14V and from 300mA to 1000mA will work fine. Less than that might not be enough to correctly run the JimStim and the MegaSquirt board. More voltage than that might be too much for either the JimStim or the Megasquirt board and more amperage capability (such as a 12V battery) might be enough to actual put either board on fire if there is a malfunction. A low-amperage fuse is mandatory in the latter case."

Can I use 9V with 1.5Amps? Is this too much? I'm no electrician!

Thanks

Yes, but use a 1amp fuse in the circuit that way you will not exceed the 1000milliamps (1 amp), even better if you can use a 0.5 amp fuse this will ensure the board is protected.

I used a car battery with a 1A fuse for mine. Worked fine. The fuse is more important than the rest as that's what helps prevent the dreaded puff of smoke.

if you know everything is working perfectly then you don't technically need the fuse. if you are unsure if the boards are OK or not the fuse should limit the damage you can do.

btw a 1amp or 0.75amp car blade fuse is ideal with a couple of crimped terminals in the power line to connect it.

That's exactly how I did mine. Sat on the conservatory floor with a car battery and a couple of little bits of wire hanging off it.
