Clogged injectors.

I was trying to start my duratec for the first time with megasquirt with no luck.

I remove the fuel rail, crank the engine and no fuel. Fuel pressure was OK and tested the voltage at the injectors. I the applied 12v to the injectors for 2 or 3 seconds and it started flowing! I repeated with the other 3 and now all seems to flow.

It this normal?? the engine was not used from 2008 I think.

thanks!!

It's not "normal" but the same thing happened with a s/h engine we fitted to my brother Celica some years back. If stood for long enough the petrol in the injectors will gum up enough that the injector doesn't respond to the short pulses used during cranking. Might be an idea to get the injectors cleaned properly.

Air locked -- simples!

Why would a fuel system with a return get air-locked? It was definitely the injectors sticking on my brothers car since we pulled the injectors out to check the spray pattern and they wouldn't even click until we had applied 12v to them for 5-10 seconds, and even then the spray pattern was terrible. We used the injectors from his blown up engine (big end problem) in the end.

Exactly what happened to me!

I will send them for cleaning tomorrow. Engine started (only idle, just in case).

Exactly what happened to me. Have to say I now check each injector by pulsing it a few times on a 12V supply and push switch.

Also invested in an ultrasonic cleaner a while ago and clean the injectors in that - does them a treat (was £25 when I got it):

Hi there

What solution did you use to clean the injectors with?

Cheers
