Hi
A mate of mine is starting to build a mx5 based zero
Does anybody know if we can use the original loom and ecu
The car is a 98 mk2 1.8
Thanks any pointers would be very helpful
Cheers
Yes you can, although there will be a fair bit of the loom not used which makes installing complicated. Careful labeling when removing the loom will help. When I did mine I found it easier to make my own loom using mostly trailer cable and just use part of the original loom for the engine, ECU harness.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but could I ask whether you did anything special for the immobiliser? Or was that retained along with the ECU?
I used a 99 mk2 as my donor. Loom immobiliser and all. I also used the steering column with stalks.
There is an amazing amount lot to strip out for such a small car.
I found this invaluable

The only difference I found was with the alternator wiring as on the MK2 it's controlled by the ECU.
