After a successful first start last year of my megasquirt powered zetec lump. I have left the engine alone and concentrated on mechanicals. The time
has come to get back to the electronics.
Last I tinkered I was having major issues with noise on sensor connections. So have been thinking of using 2 core shielded twisted pair cables for
each sensor feed.
That then in turn got be thinking (which can be dangerous I admit)... Can anyone see an issue with using a 3 core shielded cable to feed the coil
connection?
Obviously it would need to be of sufficient thickness for the related current.
Any comments? I cant see a negative to doing it?
No problem doing that, only earth one end of the shield very important.
Will do no harm, but unless you screen the coil and ht leads as well it won't make much difference to emitted noise.
The important ones to screen are the TPS and crank sensor.
Noise can cause odd problems, return all sensor grounds to the ECU 37way plug, then ground the the ECU to the engine. Make sure you have at least one
heavy ground strap from the battery to the engine, and from the battery/engine to the chassis.
Anyone know a decent supplier of 3 core cable at a reasonable price?
Purchased some from polevault eventually... more than I wanted to pay but the right stuff costs...
