In Tank Swirl pot, Vauxhall Vectra??
r1_pete - 18/11/13 at 09:00 PM

I'm looking for an in tank swirl pot solution for my E Type efi conversion.

I see the Vauxhall Vectra / signum have a plastic pot assembly around the pump, does anyone have any information on this unit? if it is a swirl pot of sorts it could be a neat solution to my needs.

Cheers.

Pete

I think I have heard of people using a landrover discovery one so it might be worth a look too ?

I can confirm the landrover one has an integral swirl pot. I have i sat on a shelf at home so if you want photos or dimensions then let me know.

Thanks Guys.

Hugh, do you have any idea how the Landy one fits in the tank, is it in a sump, or just a flat bottom tank? I'm interested to know how they 'fill'.

From the pictures I've seen they would be quite easy to hieght adjust for different tank depths.

I think the tank is basically flat bottomed, but if I remember right it is installed with the bottom at a bit of an angle with the pump in the deepest part (That may have been a long range special tank though). The pump/pot are the lower part you see in pictures. The top is connected with two guide rails and spring loaded and you can compress/extend the overall height by a couple of inches. The rails could be detached (you'd have to work out how to stop the thing sliding around in the tank then), as the only other connections between the two halves are the fuel hoses and live/earth/level transmitter wires, all of which could be extended easily beyond that. I think you jsut need enough fuel to cover the pump and it self primes, but I'm not certain.
