Fuel Pump - easy question
Ugg10 - 13/8/14 at 10:46 PM

Sorry, real numpty questions - I have a Bosch external fuel pump (0-580-464-008, Astra/Cavalier red top I think) which has a large connector at one end integral to the aluminum case and a smaller plastic connector at the other with the electrical connectors. Stupid questions alert - which way does the flow go?

Also what is the recommended mounting location and orientation for these pumps (WRT tank as well please), most I have seen are horizontal is this because they are not self priming (or are they) ?

Thanks for the help in advance.

large in small out.

edit.
ideal position is low as possible and near to the tank. gravity should do the work getting the fuel to it for good reliability.

Many thanks, does it have to be in any particular orientation?

What Ash said.

Not seen anything to say orientation is vital but most are horizontal. Probably to aid/allow gravity filling.
