OK - Lets get this forum started...

I have a 2ltr EFi pinto and I am considering cutting down the EFI to fit under the bonnet instead of using carbs.
I have the instructions from the Luego build manual.

Anyone see any real problems with this ?

What do you think I should do about the ECU ? use the sierra one or go for a megasquirt ?

I'm a little way off yet but am interested in (and value) your opinions....

Cheers

personally id go for megasquirt as this (imo )would give you a better understanding how it it all works, plus im a techo junkie

do you mean your going to cut down the plenum?

if so there is a minimum capacity it will need to be to suit your engine.

not the plenum itself but Luego suggest cutting a 'wedge' out of the pipes to lower the plenum.

That looks like a bit of a kink in the end two intakes.

DaveFJ - 1/12/05 at 12:06 PM

yep - was worried about that - thought maybe a length of tube on 3 and 4 would be needed to fix that ? might be difficult to do though.

the other alternative would be to make my own plenum but not totally sure I'm up to that ...

Megasquirt will probably be the cheapest, but it's largely a community-based thing. (BIG community, though)

If you're after a commercial offerning, Emerald are probably not that far away from you and the cheaper K2 ECU is due out early next year

If your looking to do it cheaply stick with the Ford ECU.

If you have money available then go for the Mega Squirt (well known and surported) or others like Emerald as suggested.take a look at this

What a terrible peice of work the inlet manifold looks like. although im no expert it might be good. Is there no way of taking all the pipes off of the plenum and welding on new tubes just bent over 180 degrees?

Does anyone know the e-mail address of Mark Allanson as the e-mail shown at the bottom of the above link doesn't work.
i.e. I assume he's changed his e-mail address.

Would love to know how he got on with this.

Cheers,
Romer

I spoke to him at Exeter and he's very happy with it, no problems whatsoever.
