On the ford fuel rail there is a feed pipe and a return.
One marked yellow and one marked Red.
Which is the feed and which is the return?

1.8 Zetec

Cam belt end is feed.
Gearbox end is return.
Didn't know they were colour coded.

Yes the fuel pipe has two yellow bands around one pipe and two red bands around the other.

I remember that now I chucked my originals out in favour of SS Braided hoses.
I thought you were talking about colour coding on the elbows.
