I'm looking for a few bright ideas for mounting the VR sensor on a x-flow... don't seem to be many obvious 'spare' bolts available for use.

Any photos of your installations would be much appreciated, to get the creative processes working.

Check in Paul F's gallery good pictures and easy to view, he, like me has used the cam cover bolts to mount there VR sensor holder. If you want I can try and post some picture in my archive tonight?

we used a piece of aluminium angle bolted between the long common timg chain cover / water pump bolt and one other timing chain cover bolt, took minutes and has lasted fine just use beefy angle.

How did you mount the toothed wheel to the pulley? Been thinking about a spacer between and welding? PS sorry to high jack thread

Pride goeth before a fall...

Made the bracket, it lines up nicely with the toothed wheel at JUST the right spacing, and it looks really smart in its new coat of paint...

Went to re-assemble everything and - found that the VR sensor wants to share the same bit of space as the edge of the fan belt! Buggerit!

Still, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger... definitely a learning experience...

Back to the drawing board.

CairB, Is that peice of steel thick enough for the VR sensor to pick up?

It seemed to be, I made it out of 16's gauge with the missing tooth bent back.
It was a lash up as I was only getting confident with the MS before my engine swap.
The toothed wheel was already fitted on the new engine.
From memory it isn't much thicker.

There is a drawing of it in my photos if its any use.
I made it by drilling then snipping the disc to the drilled holes.
At that radius you can achieve a reasonable degree (no pun intended ) of accuracy.

Have you looked at buying one off ebay tho'?

Colin, I've one off Ebay but the diameter is too big, (I'll use it on the V8) I need a smaller diameter as i've got an alloy front pulley

I've some 3mm steel i'll use for the crossflow
