Zetec fuel injection - few questions
mstepien - 8/1/07 at 02:00 PM

Hi,
I'm going for the supercharging my black top 2l Zetec (comes from the 2003 Focus). I do have some questions though I hope somebody could help me with.

I'm going to change injectors to Ford Racing 42lb ones (end-fed ones) - proposed by Ford Racing for, yes, Zetec Focus. According to all the info I got, Zetec injectors are side-fed, but each time I look @ mine, they seem like end-feds. Maybe the 3rd generation ones should be like this ?

Next the fuel delivery. I'm not going to play with the fuel pressure rising rate - fuelling will be delt with by changing the pulse length. I wanted to ensure that the standard Bosch fuel pressure regulator is sufficient for such an application. I think it is a relative (compared to the manifold pressure) one - it has the vacuum line on the top and it has 380 kpa written on it. Could anybody confirm ?

I'm currently at work (thank god nobody's looking over my shoulder) but I'll put some pictures when I get back home.

Thx,

Michal

The late mk3 zetecs do have top feed injectors.

You will need to change the fuel pressure regulator for on that can read and compensate for positive pressure as well as vacum.

The stock one will only compensate for a vacum.

Get one from a turbo charge car. I have used cosworth ones with great sucess and they are easy to adjust the base pressure on.
