I have been tackling the problem of how to remove the dizzy on a pinto using MSnS...
I have cut down the shaft and the casing so a 1" stub protrudes. I have removed the bearing from the top of the casin and want to insert it into
the top of the stub to accurately locate the top of the shortened shaft.
consequently I need to enlarge the bore for top 15mm or so of the ally casing to 18.5mm...
had thought of reaming it out but can't find a suitable source of toos and I'm not sure it will retain the alignment well enough...
I have no access to a lathe
any thoughts?

can you get an 18.5 mm drill?
drill the timing cover to bigger thaqn 18.5 mm and then drill a hole in a steel plate that you can fit on top, assuming you can drill and tap 2 screws
into the cover - having slots in the cover will make it adjustable so you don;t need to be accurate with the timing cover.
the problem with large drills is that the holes they leave tend to be somewhat less that circular....... But yes I have thought about it and
can't find any with a wasted shank small enough to go in my drill press - or short/cheap enough for that matter!
I think my best bet is to get access to a lathe.....

yep, either bore it out in a lathe, or forget the bearing, get a piece of phosphor bronze, drill it to suit the dizzy shaft and get the OD turned to suit the dizzy.

Now sorted thanks to Dave Jenkins...
for those interested i will post some pics of the finished item once it is finished
Drill out to 19mm and ematal the bearing in.
