Me again.
Still tying to get my engine started and I Think I may have found the cause.
After changing everthing electric apart from the Mega Squirt,checking the timing and getting a friend to check it also. I belive it to be fuel related.

When I checked the fuel from the injectors last week, I was getting what I would describe as a gush of fuel. ( injectors stuck open maybe)
Today when we checked the fuel from the injectors it was a spray. However this is what we have found: Turn the key to activate the fuel pump no fuel from the injectors, If we turn the key on and off fuel sprays form the injectors the more we do this the more fuel we get coming out of the injector. if we turn the key to cranking no fuel comes form the injectors.

Any ideas of the cause of this? Is it a Mega Squirt setting that is wrong?
Doe's the vacuum reading have any affect on the injectors?

think that if megasquirt is powering the fuel pump relay then it only powers it up for a couple of seconds untill the engine is started to save pumping for no reason

Yes it does.
But there is fuel pressure there all the time it's just that the injectors don't seem to be getting the signal to squirt the fuel when cranking over.

are the injectors working ok, if you strap 12v over them can you hear them click ?

infact when your turn my car on they all click as a priming charge

Don't know with megasquirt systems but injectors are normally opened when the ecu senses the engine is being cranked over , they dont inject just by turning the ignition on and off Try drying the plugs , disconnect the injector multiplugs and spray brake cleaner or easistart into the throttle bodies . If engine then fires your problem is on the fuel side. It may be worth giving it a squirt with everything connected .

There is a setting on megasquirt which affects fuel on cranking, ie throws it in or limits it.

On my car with a hot cam I had to limit on cranking or it flooded the engine really quickly.

I would suggest in the first instance you disconnect the fuel pump and try with a bit of fuel directly in the carb mouths whike cranking over and toying with the throttle.

On the megasquirt help pages they do note that a poorly cleaned board after soldering can cause lots of issues, one of these being the injectors held open. If you can run the engine as above then I would suggest your next step would be to clean the board throughly with thinners, then wash in soapy water as per the building instructions then try again. A dirty board will give the correct indications on the GUI although the fueling may be all over the place.

Failing that get the megasquirt validated so you can isolate this item.

Piddy,

Can you post a copy of your map so we can have a look.
What do you have the [Cranking Settings] set to. If you are getting the prime pulse at switch but not any injected fuel at cranking then either the MS cannot see the engine turning over (ie VR sensor not working) or you have the wrong TPS values set for flood clear so the ECU will not inject fuel.

In [More Cranking Stuff] check that cranking RPM is around 300 and that TPS value for flood clear is less than the Full Throttle ADC Count that you get in [Tools][Calibrate TPS]. I would suggest calibrating the TPS first to ensure it works and then set the TPS Flood Clear value to around 80% of the max.


That should hopefully resolve your problem.

I wish that was the answer. the cranking RPM is 300 in More Cranking Stuff.
My full throttle reading is 223 and the flood clear is set at 178.

Please bear in mind that the car has run for 600 miles with these settings.
So it seems that something has failed,became corrupt.

You should see RPM in Megatune when you crank it. If you don't do that MS will never open the injectors.

Check that the RPM-sensor is working.
