Where to get 8mm-10mm fuel hose joiner
rayroni - 19/7/07 at 07:12 AM

Could do with one today, anybody got any suggestions where to get one from - 'cause I somehow think halfrauds won't stock them. Is it the type of thing you can get from a motor factors?

Cheers

I bought one yesterday from my local motorfactors, always have bits in stock, more helpful/userfriendly than Halfords and cost about 20p.

10mm microbore with 8mm microbore slid inside and a ring of solder around to seal. Just a guess this one but I THINK the 8mm will go into the 10. Someone maybe able to confirm this I hope as it's what I've got in mind for my fuel pipes.

If you do this then make sure you flare the ends of the pipes slightly to positively retain the pipe when clamped.

I got my 10mm to 8mm reducer from Vehicle Wiring Products.

Cheers,
Craig.

Nah I did'nt like the idea of a sharp flared edge so I got a piece of copper wire and wound it round the pipe and run a ring of soldered round it as well. Job's a good un as they say. You're right though about needing some sort of retaing mechanism.

I didn't have a sharp flared edge, I used a brake flaring tool and just gave it maybe 25% of a full flare to leave a nice tidy rounded bulge on the end of the pipe.

I have used the other method of soldering on a compression olive. These are usually available for all the standard sizes of copper pipe including 8mm and 10mm microbore.

Cheers,
Craig.
