I'm fitting a roots blower to my R1 striker. As I have one I am converting a CooperS intercooler core into a charge cooler, cutting the endcaps
off, welding an new inlet on and the outlet directly to the plenum.
Does anyone know how the BMW factory joins the endcap to the core? If it's tin/lead solder it'll sublime and poision me! If it's glue
it'll melt an blow apart under boost, both bad!
I't looks like some kind of capillary action soldering process but I'm not sure.
I can change my plan but I'd rather not, this is a neat solution IF it'll work.

Roots blowers have lousy efficiency
Er... yes, they are, hence the need for intercooling.
On the upside they're dirt cheap and will provide loads of low rpm boost to flatten the torque curve out. On paper at least it works great,
we'll see how it fares in the real world when I get it going.
