Error message when linking Laptop to MS...

Had the car running by a friend and his laptop (1700 X-FLow, full Megasuirt). Unable to get in touch with said friend.
Since then i have....
Battery died, changed to gell.
Fitted a spring to throttle to enable full return.
Problem...
Car fires but struggles to tick over.
Plugged in my laptop to reset TP but get the following Error Message...
Controller code version does not match signature in MegaSquirt-I.ini.
(See audit.log for where the above file was found.)
Expected "0x14" (found in ini file)
Received "" (from controller)
Table corruption may occur, this is usually a very serious problem.
Terminiate MegaTune now?
Any idea's ?
PS... iam a complete numpty with tuning

You need to tell MegaTune what version of firmware is on MegaSquirt.

Start megatune unconnected and select to continue offline.
From the file menu select the configurator, then select from the tree on the left the code version you have on you MS unit. Once selected from the
file menu select 'Activate'.
Close down an d restart MT connected to your MS unit. If don't know your code version use Hyperterminal with your laptop connect to MS with the
commands Q and S. Baud must be set to 115000.

I pressume i need to select... megasquirt-11.ini.2.5
or
MSnEDIS-mod.ini.

You need to run the configarator program and select car 1 in the file menu, then settings ini, then in the dropdown from that code variant.It will
most likely be msnedis or msnspark extra select it in the code variant menu at top right of the screen and the select activate in the file menu
followed by save.
When you restart megatune select car 1 on the start up screen.
