do you think the stock pinto fuel pump delivers enough pressure for R1 carbs? what can it be 1.5-2 psi?
The stock pinto one will deliver too much fuel pressure. Ditch it, fit a blanking cover and buy a secondhand motorbike fuel pump. Doesn't matter what bike its off as long as its a carb one not an injection one. The pumps run on a points system so cut the fuel supply when it reaches the correct pressure....Oli.
Ill second that its cheaper to get a bike pump than it is to get a pressure regulator for the pinto pump. I put an R6 pump on mine which was £12 delivered
Yep, bike pump. I found mine worked better fitted at the back as a pusher,
Steve.
We had a Facet solid state carb fuel pump and it flooded the bike carbs, bought a CBR fuel pump and it's fine now.
thanks for the replies. so now that i dont need the dizzy (because of megajolt) nor the fuel pump (because of the carbs), what will the auxiliary shaft do on the pinto? nothing? just spin? well... apart from turning the oil pump...
As you say, the oil pump is driven from the bottom of the dizzy so you can't get rid of it. Some people cut the dizzy down leaving just a stump but I've just left the whole thing there.
