180 degree fuel pipe?
RazMan - 21/10/07 at 09:52 PM

I need to route a fuel breather pipe in a tight 180 degree bend and can't find anything that doesn't kink easily. I have tried bending some 6mm alloy tube around a 25mm pipe but it kinks every time.

Is there anything like a U bend with a 6-7mm o/d?

Erm .... a bit ott at £14 each

I was thinking a bit more locost than that - basi8cally a bit of bent 6mm pipe

Can you fill the 6mm ali tube with sand before you bend it?

yeah, £14 is a bit much, but its there if you're stuck

or maybe this one!

Put a piece of wire inside the pipe then bend it. Pull the wire out or melt the insulation off if it's too tight and pull it out a strand at a time

Does it have to be 6mm?? I'm thinking 2 of 90 degree 8mm elbows for microbore heating pipes.

I did actually think of that one and went into B&Q yesterday to have a poke around. The microbore elbows are 8mm i/d which makes them 10mm o/d so a bit too chunky

OK another thought what about a bit of pipe from the condenser on the back of an old fridge or freezer??? Just be carefull of the refrigerant when removing it

6mm for fuel breather -- way over the top even a bit of 3/16" brake pipe is big enough for a breather.

.... I think swmbo might notice when her ice cream melts

Problem sorted now - packed the tube with salt, bent it around a former .... perfect!

bt - the pipe is only 3mm i/d
