Mega problems............
clairetoo - 17/4/08 at 07:04 PM

Last night was spent fiddling with the Megasquirt , and all was working fine .
Got home from work tonight armed with a length of vacume tube , connected the MAP sensor .......... and its gone mad
The fuel pump relay clicks on and off constantly , there is no priming pulse or injector action of any kind , realtime display shows the battery voltage at 22 volts , throttle opening at 85% , both temp sensors at 6 degrees (were 51 and 26...) - in short every reading is total garbage and it wont start .

HELP

Bummer!! Sounds very strange. Shut the garage quick and pretend it hasnt happened - see if its the same tomorrow.

On a more serious note, have you opened up the unit and checked for a dodgy solder joint etc??

clairetoo - 17/4/08 at 07:16 PM

I`ve had the unit open - no obvious problems , no burnt smell - all looks fine .
All I did was switch it off and go to bed last night.........and now it dont work

And its got a decent earth??

Its obviously a female megasquirt....... and being very temperamental!!

Paul (running and hiding!!)

can you reset it / reflash it ?

Check the earth

check the power connection / condition of the battery (via a multimeter)

if you want someone to stand in the corner, drool over your car and offer silly advice (with the occasional perl of wisdom) i've got lots of experience of doing the same in NSDevs workshop!

(except i'm busy this weekend).

have you checked the earth wire?should be on its own bolt with no volt drop

omega 24 v6 - 17/4/08 at 07:47 PM

There is a problem in megasquirt settings that can cause the constant on/off of the fuel pump you describe. But it's been a while since I read any of it so can't remember where to look. Check the manual.

I just got through checking every flippin connection............swore........a lot ..........went and got a coffee .......... and when I returned to the garage I noticed the temp readings on megatune had miraculously returned to normal and the fuel relay wasnt clicking .
So I tried the starter.....and it runs

This is just soooooooooooooo annoying

would re-flash it anyway, just in case

had something similar with timwindmills car

Ray

Unfortunatly re-flashing it is way beyond me.....

paulf - 17/4/08 at 08:51 PM

Its not to difficult, and is explained quite clearly on the megasquirt site , I think it stems back to the easytherm problems.
Reflashing requires you to link two pins on the pcb and then download from PC .
Corrupted firmware would explain the strange problems, It may be worth just reinstalling megatune first though in case that is corrupt.

i can only sympathise as i know how annoying the problem is. We have been there before with a very similar problem except it took about two weeks to fix itself with the added magic of ray ward

dito the reflash, had similar problem with fuel pump relay (not dodgy temp readings tho) - reflash, not returned as yet..... touch wood
