I understood that a lambda sensor should sit just after the branch in the exhaust manifold.

However, I'm looking at a throttle body (Jaguar XKR) assembly and see that there's a lambda sensor just inside it.

What benefit is it to have one in this location as the air still has to go through the supercharger before it hits the fel spray?

I'd say its more likely to be an Inlet Air Temperature sensor or something similar.

Lambda sencors are for detecting unburnt oxygen in the Exhaust.

That's unlikely to be a lambda sensor. For one thing they have to be >350degrees to work and hopefully the inlet manifold won't be that even on a supercharged engine!!!

Thanks guys - I just pumped one of the sensor numbers into google and it came back as a Siemens Lambda doodah.

May be a generic senor number - will go back and search some more!
